Lauren & Samuel
A wedding for the couple who've been on the other side of every lens.
Covered: Mobile Content, Film Photography
The scene
The Emerson is tucked in a quiet stretch of land outside Dallas: a farmhouse, a chapel behind it, and nothing competing for your attention. They kept it intimate. Every person in that room had actually been a part of their story. Vendors who became friends. Friends who were also colleagues. Two worlds that had been running parallel finally in the same room at the same time.
The day had no real itinerary. It moved the way they do: naturally, without pressure, and with time to actually be present in it.
Before anything else began, Lauren gave her dad a letter she wrote, alongside one her mom wrote him on his first Father's Day.
The guest list read like a vendor call sheet, but everybody was just there as a friend.
A dhol player mid-reception, a nod to the desi couples they've built their work around.
Behind the lens
Lauren and Sam photographed my wedding. Getting to show up for theirs, with a camera and iPhone this time, felt like something I couldn't have planned.
The morning started with a private first look between Lauren and her dad. She gave him a letter, her own handwriting, her own words, alongside one her mother had written him on his very first Father's Day. The way Lauren chose to make her present on that day without making it heavy was something I won't forget.
From there the day flowed. A ceremony that felt more like a gathering than a production. A reception with a coffee cart, a perfume bar, and a dhol that came out during the freestyle, a nod to all the South Asian couples they've spent years working alongside. Film ran the whole time.
